Bellini - the Sicilian 19th century composer. Together with Rossini and Donizetti, he was one of the main proponents of 'Bel Canto' opera.

Father: Don Rosario Bellini- organist
Grandfather: taught him composition
Siblings: eldest of seven children
Partners: liaisons with various ladies, but unmarried.
Children: none
Died: Paris, 23 September 1836 (age 34) Cause: dysentery.
Grave: Catania Church, Catania, Sicily.

Travels and career

Age 3 - Father began teaching him to play the piano.

Age 6 - began studying composition with grandfather Vincenzo.

Age 18 - Went to Naples to the Conservatory.

Age 26 - ' Il Pirata' premiered at La Scala, Milan.

Age 26-32 - Lived mostly in Milan

Age 30 - Two of his best known operas staged: 'La Sonnambula' and 'Norma'

Age 32 - Summer of 1833 in London directing 4 of his operas, at the King's Theatre and at Drury Lane.

Age 33 - Moved to Paris. Became friends with Rossini, Chopin and other artists and musicians.
Composed and produced his last opera 'I Puritani' . Decides to live in Paris.

Age 34 - Dies in Puteaux, near Paris, at the peak of his career. Cause of death: acute inflamation of large intestine and abscess of the liver.
